CINEMA CRAFT®HD encoder "Nymphe"

By miguel - Posted on 12 January 2010

In today’s fast-paced, price-conscious economy, saving time is critical in reducing production costs and bringing Blu-ray disc, BD-Java, BD-Live and BD-Audio products to market on schedule. In response to the growing needs of BD Production facilities, Silicon Philosophies has developed "Nymphe" - the newest solution featuring the CINEMA CRAFT®HD encoder (CC-HDe) and Facilis Terrablock. The name is derived from the 17th century French warships, famous for their speed and manoeuvrability.

CC-HDe is optimized to efficiently utilize the processing power and multi-threading capabilities of Intel’s Nehalem Processors, while Terrablock's SAN software and proprietary techniques maximizes disk I/O throughput and performance, enabling encoding speeds twice as fast as with earlier processors.

This revolutionary AVC/H.264 encoding solution out-performs rival applications in every respect and affords companies the benefits of cost-effective, flexible and efficient use of their hardware resources:

  • Work efficiently – Simple, intuitive and easy to use
  • Ingest – Capture Uncompressed HD SDI, scale from SD or cross-convert between frame sizes as needed
  • Store – Multiple projects utilizing 20TB of manageable storage (SAN), expandable in increments up to 36TB each
  • Preview – See the results beforehand and make adjustments prior to executing long encoding runs
  • Encode quickly – Faster than realtime speeds allow completion of projects on or ahead of schedule
  • Accurate - Achieve pristine picture quality results on the first attempt
  • Quality Control – Perform verification, fine-tuning, file replacement or re-encode if required
  • 100% Compliant – SONY and Eclipse verified streams import seamlessly into Scenarist, BluPrint, DoStudio, Sirius Blu, and other BD/BD-J Authoring applications

At present there are several facilities worldwide using the CINEMA CRAFT®HD encoder. Recent price reductions have been well received and several new features are planned for release during the coming months.
